Find foods more easily with revamped search at The Daily Plate!
Above all, we here at The Daily Plate try to listen to our members.
Here’s a small sample of what you’ve been saying:
The thing is, you were right. Our old search engine couldn’t handle the hundreds of thousands of foods in our database, and it just wasn’t up to snuff. Tracking the foods you eat is no simple task, and it requires commitment — and our old search engine wasn’t making things any easier.
So we scrapped the old search engine altogether.
In its place, we’ve unveiled a new, much more accurate, and tremendously fast search engine. You’ll get the results you expect — you’ll find the foods you’re looking for.
Improved search was the #1 feature request here at The Daily Plate. We heard you, and we’re very pleased with the new search engine we’ve rolled out this week. Please, search for the foods you eat and let us know if you run into any glitches or unexpected results — we really value your feedback!

Quite simply put, the new search engine rocks! I immediately noticed how much more accurate it was. So far, every item I’ve searched for has been found in the first page of results - yay! Excellent improvement, thanks!!

Excellent! I did a search on Back Yard Burgers and ONLY received results from that restaurant…not like before when I would have gotten anything with the word “burgers” in it. I haven’t noticed a single issue yet! I applaud the new engine and the fact that you’re so intent on paying attention to customer feedback. Here’s hoping that you’re here for a long time to come!

Everything is easier to find. Even mispellings work much better.

Nice site, regarding the search though I noticed that ampersands cancel out any search terms that follow them, i.e. the search terms “Bell & Evans” result in a search for “Bell”.

How do i change serving sizes if my serving size isn’t the one in the database.

It would be nice to be able to set preferences for food brands…such as “show only Trader Joe’s” brand or have your preferred brands selected in your plate preferences.

Great feedback, everyone!
jwskur — That issue has been corrected. Thanks for pointing it out!
altagal — While on the MyPlate page, each food you add to your plate for the day has a number of servings next to it. That number is a link. If you click on it, it will allow you to adjust the number of servings you actually consumed.
livinginmonrovia — We are actively working on a solution for brand-limited search. Thanks for the great suggestion!

Is there any way to link alternative spellings. I have noticed duplicate items with one of the entries spelled incorrect.
